You might have encountered this situation before: after your supplier delivers a mass order of makeup brushes, the brush heads easily detach from the handles during use. This leads to customer complaints and terrible reviews that damage your brand’s reputation.
Sending a replacement brush is a common fix, but it is hard to make the customer forget that unpleasant shopping experience.
As we know, makeup brushes are assembled by hand, and the handle and ferrule (the metal part) are glued together. Detachment issues are usually caused by a non-standard production process and a lack of strict quality inspection.
When a brush head breaks off, it usually comes down to these questions:
Are the assembly workers well-trained and responsible?
Does the manufacturer inspect the quality of the glue?
Are the ferrule and handle materials perfectly matched in standard sizes?
Does the manufacturer perform a pull test for quality control before every shipment?
To avoid this risk, the most important factor is using the right adhesive. The industry standard for top-tier quality is AB glue (two-part epoxy resin).
As a professional makeup brush manufacturer, we know that when the brush handle and ferrule are properly bonded with AB glue, it is almost impossible to break them apart—even if you pull with all your strength. Furthermore, the firmness of AB glue is not affected by extreme environments. Whether your warehouse is exposed to extreme cold or high heat, your goods are safely secured.
It is not a secret in the makeup brush industry that not all brushes are glued with AB glue. Hot melt adhesive is also widely used by some manufacturers. But why?
Time: Hot melt adhesive can bond the brush and dry in seconds. In contrast, AB glue takes at least 10 hours to cure.
Cost: Hot melt is obviously cheaper and faster than AB glue. It saves production time, allowing factories to offer shorter delivery times. Workers can immediately proceed to the next step without waiting.
However, using AB glue requires a more advanced production plan. The manufacturer must carefully inspect and protect the brushes during the 10-hour drying period to prevent the brush head and handle from shifting due to external forces.
A good makeup brush is designed to help people achieve a flawless application. A well-glued brush assists the user, while a broken one ruins the experience. It is our mission to elevate your customer’s experience.
As a professional makeup brush manufacturer, we do not want you to learn the importance of glue the hard way. We build our brushes safely to ensure your brand remains trustworthy.
